Our Review

Mattress Construction

‘The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora is one of our best sellers. It is 13” tall and available in all standard sizes plus several more options for a customized sleep: split Texas, split Alaskan, Split Wyoming, split queen, split cal-king and short queen.’

Let’s take a look at Aurora and what it does for hot sleepers. For those of you that are looking to cool down your bed, this seems like a game changer. But is it the best option for you?

Let’s start by looking at the construction of this Brooklyn Bedding Aurora mattress. It’s the most popular and this review will look at that, but I’ll also mention the other two so you know what they’re like.

Cover - the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Mattress has a plush Euro Top cover made from cotton, and a proprietary material called TitanCool. This material ensures it’s cool to the touch while being soft to the body. The manufacturer says this sleep mask is engineered to help maintain the user’s skin temperature at 88 F, but we can’t confirm this. We find it to be a nice refreshing alternative for sleeping on hot nights.

Primary comfort layer - the first layer after the cover is 1.5” CopperFlex, which is an alternative to latex foam that gives more immediate response than typical memory foam. This layer provides the perfect level of body contouring while also cooling you down. TitanCool and copper provide continuous cooling to refresh your skin.

Secondary comfort layer - right in the middle, is a 2-inch layer of medium-density TitanFlex foam. This provides additional cushioning. The responsive and comfortable foam in this section responds to your movements so you can stay aligned while you sleep. A good night’s sleep

Transition layer - after the first two layers of this mattress, there’s 800-volt twist polyurethane foam at 1” thickness. This layer offers great pressure relief for a more pain-free sleep experience. This high-density foam also helps to stop your back from coming into contact with the coiled interior below it, which provides much needed relief during a long day at work.

Support layer - the main support of the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora is zoned zone of hundreds of 8" individually wrapped Ascension coils. The zoned design means that it’s firmer around the midsection and softer around your head. This coil system also helps with durability and bounce.

Base layer - The coils go on top of a .75-inch layer of high-density polyester foam to make up the base of the mattress. The HD foam layer makes your bed more stable and durable without compromising on comfort.

Sleeping Positions

Back sleepers - we think the medium-firm Brooklyn Bedding Aurora mattress is a great choice for back sleepers. It offers a good balance of support and contouring, which will help maintain the natural “S” curve on your spine.

Stomach sleepers - the Aurora hybrid mattress is a good match for stomach sleepers who are 130-250 lbs in weight. The zoned construction means there’s more support to keep your heavy parts, like your shoulders and hips, from being pulled down while you sleep.

Side sleepers - The Aurora pillow from Brooklyn Bedding is a perfect match for side sleepers. With firm support and just the right amount of sinkage, this pillow is exactly what light and average weight side sleepers want. Aurora firm mattress is a better choice if you’re in the 250+lbs weight category.

Firmness Review

The Aurora is available in three firmness options, which we covered in this review. It’s worth mentioning that the medium-firm option has a firmness of 6.5 on our mattress scale. Being a medium-firm mattress, the Aurora mid-range helps to provide a good balance of comfort and support for most back, stomach and side sleepers. As a result, it works well with different body weights.

Side sleepers need a lot of cushioning in their mattress, so if you sleep on your side and enjoy a soft bed, we recommend our Aurora mattress. The Aurora firm is more suitable for back or stomach sleepers who like a snugger feel to their bed.

Value for the Money

We’d classify the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora in the mid range when it comes to pricing. That said, you won’t find it on lists of cheap mattresses to buy online. But there are hybrid mattresses with much higher price tags out there.

For those looking for a high-quality hybrid mattress, we think the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora is a great choice. It is two to three times as thick and feels six inches taller than industry standard mattresses. It also includes features like support that you’d never find in a $500 mattress.

Brooklyn Bedding regularly has a sale, so you could save up to 25% off the regular price of our mattresses.

Overall

Overall, this Brooklyn Bedding Aurora mattress gets a rating of A from us. Although it’s not the cheapest mattress out there, this is an affordable luxury option if you want to get away from the standard mattresses with no added benefits.

We like the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora mattress because it has a lot of features that solve the heat problem. The Bed Sheet Cover is combined with Phase Change Material to reduce radiating heat, as well as coils so your body can stay cool.

It also has 3 firmness options, which make it a good bet if alternate environments or sleep styles are a priority. You might like the Aurora if you’re tired of a mattress that isn’t perfect for your requirements.
