Mattress Construction
The Ghostbed is an 11-inch all-foam mattress that employs 3 different types of foam technologies. You’ll realize that the manufacturer markets it as a 4-layer mattress, but that’s inclusive of the cover to ensure its durability. The Ghostbed Mattress is a good option because it balances the three main components of a great night’s sleep: pressure relief, comfort, and support. It’s all thanks to the unique combination of three ingredients – latex, gel-infused memory foam, and poly foam.
Here’s how different technologies stack up against each other:
Cover - The Ghostbed mattress has a cover made from a blend of viscose and polyester. This design is generally simple but creates a nice, cozy feel to the foam layers. Like most mattress covers, this cover can’t be machine-washed. It’s possible to clean the visible stains on it by blotting them with a cloth dissolved in vinegar and water.
Comfort Layer - The comfortable section of this mattress is a 1.5-inch layer of aerated latex which is one of its most interesting components considering it’s mainly used in premium beds. Latex is becoming increasingly popular for its ability to contour to your body, something that’s really important when you sleep. Furthermore, the latex used for these pillows has a natural open-cell structure. This, combined with a deliberate pinhole pattern engineered into the latex, provides excellent air circulation which creates ample breathability. This leads to a comfortable sleeping temperature.
Transition Layer - The extra layer is made out of synthetic latex that transitions to a 2-inch memory foam with gel infusion. The manufacturer says this kind of material has large cells, which provide the mattress with great support. These cells allow air to flow freely and effectively release heat, creating an even cooler surface. These cells also make the foam very comfortable, while the gel-infusion in this foam provides the perfect temperature regulation at night. This gel works like a phase-changing material and will change between liquid and solid states depending on the temperature. When body heat builds up on the sleeping surface, this gel will absorb it, keeping the top of the mattress cool.
Base - The base of this mattress is very impressive and contains one of the densest foam materials that we seen thus far. It also has been constructed using a top layer of firm foam which will never go flat. Poly foam makes the best base layer for mattresses. It’s both long-lasting and fairly priced, and it’s easy to roll-pack. Ghostbed mattresses use common construction materials, so there’s nothing too weird about them. Here at Sapient, we believe that the aerated latex liner is a smart way to go. It works by eliminating the stuck-in-mud feeling that visco-elastic foam can cause. This design, along with the open-cell foam and gel cushioning, makes for a cooler night’s sleep.

Sleeping Positions
Back sleepers - The Ghostbed is one of our favorite brands for back sleepers. Its memory foam layer provides support throughout the lumbar region, while the latex on top ensures you’ll be comfortable.
Stomach sleeping - Ordinary and a bit on the soft side, people who sleep on their stomach will find this mattress comfortable too. It has an average firmness that provides enough support for their midsection. The latex and gel memory foam layers create a comfy and supportive surface. Those who weigh over 230 lbs may not find this mattress firm enough to support their back because it will be too soft. But since it is designed to accommodate both side/back sleepers, this might not be a problem.
Side sleeping - when you rotate to your side, your hips and shoulders will start to sink slowly. This will provide relief on these areas; but it may cause an issue if you’re overweight and a strict side sleeper.
Firmness Review
A mattress may feel different from person to person, with heavy people finding it softer, and light people more firm. Ghostbed’s firmness ratio is about 5-6.5 on the scale, that means it has a medium to medium-firm feel that would suit most positions and sleeping combos.
Value for the Money
Ghostbed is a reasonably priced mattress. It falls at around the same price range as several other reputable all-foam mattresses that we’ve reviewed on our site. In order to stay afloat in this competitive marketplace, they offer coupons as a way of offering discounts when it comes time to make your purchase." Sometimes though, you get a little more than what you bargained for, like when we checked this mattress out at 25% off and came across 2 luxury pillows to boot.
Overall
The Ghostbed is an impressive, affordable mattress that can suit the needs of lots of different types of sleepers. This mattress incorporates 3 different types of foam (aerated latex, gel memory foam, and high-density poly foam), which achieves a responsive feel that suits many needs. It’s made of a nice, balanced foam feel and provides a good amount of support, comfort and pressure relief.
